The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation will be hosting a private dinner Thursday to show appreciation for the foundation’s members.
The annual event will focus one what has happened in 2012 and what people can look forward to in 2013, both locally and on a state level.
President of the Duncan Area Economic Foundation Lyle Roggow has asked Dr. Mark Snead of Region Track to speak at the event. Snead also spoke at this event in February of 2009.
DAEDF Operations Manager Nichole Punneo said Snead’s business, based out of Oklahoma City, focuses on regional economic forecasting and analysis. It was founded in 2012. He also has financial experience stemming from his time at the Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business and the Federal Reserve in Denver.
“He is a very delightful speaker,” Roggow said. “He is fun to listen to. Last time, I had him here, he told everybody what to expect with the economy. He nailed it.”
Snead’s last visit was just at the brink of a downward economic spiral for Oklahoma. Roggow said this message will be a much more encouraging message.
“This message is going to be very uplifting and positive,” he said. “Oklahoma seems to have a pretty strong and good economy.”
The dinner will also honor DAEDF board members who will be retiring this year. LaWayne Jones, Rick Braught and Ken Lane are all stepping down from the board. Jones and Braught are expected to be at the dinner.
The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation Annual Membership Appreciation Dinner is being held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Simmons Center. The reception will begin at 6:15 p.m.
