Burger King celebrates grand reopening

DUNCAN — The king of burger’s Duncan castle has recently undergone a major transformation and Burger King is celebrating with a grand reopening beginning at 10 a.m. today.

Coupon giveaways and free ice cream cones to all customers will be part of the festivities to draw attention to the restaurant’s improvements, which began in mid-October 2011 and ended near the end of November.

Both the inside and outside of the building have noticeable updates at their location at the corner of Elk and Hwy 81.

“Everything in the lobby is new and the bathrooms were redone,” said Kelly Grant, general manager for the Duncan store. “Most of the back is new and they are working on all of the outside landscaping.”

Along with these broad improvements, new paint and siding for the outside give the establishment a much more modern look.

Inside, the lobby has the addition of a flat-screen television and free Wi-Fi, along with updated drink fountains and digital menu screens.

“We now have more than 100 drink combinations available and they’re easier for those who are handicapped to work,” said Grant. “There have been a lot of handicapped laws made and (the lobby) is now much easier to get around.”

Positive results have been seen in all aspects of the store, Grant said. From employee attitude to increased customers and sales, the remodel has been a win-win.

“It has motivated (the employees); they’re taking more pride in where they work and there hasn’t been as much turnover in employees,” she said. “We’ve heard nothing but good from customers and it’s been insanely busy.”

In preparation for the grand reopening, Grant had her employees scrubbing every inch of their new surroundings in order for it to look its best for what they hope to be a large crowd today.

“They’re proud of it,” Grant said.
