Warrant filed for alleged dognapper

DUNCAN — A warrant was filed in Stephens County court Friday for an alleged dognapper who is wanted in connection of the theft with 25 dogs from a Duncan woman’s home.

According to the affidavit filed in Stephens County District Court, Ashley Renee Richardson, 29, of Ratliff City, is being sought for one felony count of Grand Larceny of Dogs for the alleged theft of 25 dogs from a female victim on or about Aug. 22.

The bond set for Richardson’s warrant is listed at $25,000.

The victim spoke with Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Moore on Sept. 14 and according to the affidavit, she told the deputy that she went to Chickasha to meet with someone about buying a potbelly pig.

The other party didn’t show up and upon returning home, the victim discovered her home on Duncan Lake Road had been broken into and her 25 dogs missing.

Nine Kemmer Mountain curs, four Airedale Terrier’s, five Dachshund’s, six Chihuahua’s and one Chihuahua-Dachshund mix were gone — an estimated lost at approximately $7,000.

The victim advised Deputy Moore she has seen the puppies stolen from her house listed on Craigslist in the Dallas area and provided photos to the deputy she had taken, to compare with the one posted online.

Deputy Moore was also advised by the victim that Richardson had a multi-colored tattoo with stars and other tattoos on her body, which was also observed in the online photos posted of the dogs.

The victim and suspect have previously met, with the victim purchasing pot-bellied pigs last year.
