DUNCAN —
A Duncan resident is facing multiple charges in connection to stolen 18-wheeler rig, taken from a ranch in Velma and abandoning the vehicle in a ditch.
Jeramie L. Stevenson, 30, of Duncan, is facing two charges, Larceny of Automobile and Malicious Injury to Property after admitting to stealing the truck and driving into a ditch from the Flying J Ranch in Velma.
Stevenson was released on $10,000 bond after his initial court appearance and will have his preliminary hearing for the charges on Oct. 10 in Stephens County Court.
Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney said Stevenson admitted to the crimes in an interview with an investigator conducting a follow-up on the case.
“A deputy doing a follow up on the case learned the suspect was seen around the Flying J Ranch the day before the truck was taken,” McKinney said. “We followed up and sat him down and interviewed him and he admitted he stole the truck and ran it off in a ditch.”
The semi truck, valued at more than $100,000, was discovered in the early morning hours of Aug. 11, after deputies received a call alerting them the 18-wheeler was blocking the road on Plato Rd., one mile east of Duncan Lake Rd.
It was left overnight on the ranch grounds to allow employees to work unloading it the next day, McKinney said.
The black Kensworth semi truck is owned by Comanche Seed and Grain and had a trailer attached at the time.
In the process of allegedly driving the vehicle off the property, Stevenson had destroyed fencing located near the truck by driving through it.
It was also reported that multiple tractors on the grounds had their windows broken and the vehicle had minor damage after the incident.
