DUNCAN —
A new boutique is in town and Crescent Moon Clothing Company is doing its best to bring a fresh side of fashion to Duncan.
Located on 10th Street across from First Christian Church, the store opened its doors on Labor Day weekend and plan to have a grand opening in October.
Co-owners of the store include Duncan resident David Moore, his daughter Katelin Moore of Dallas, Texas and Robin Stone of Oklahoma City.
“Katelin is has been involved in the fashion business for several years and I thought we could use her expertise in opening the store,” said Moore. “We wanted to bring fine clothing to Duncan and styles that we didn’t really have.”
Two top lines that Crescent Moon features right now are Cosabella lingerie, an Italian line of comfortable and upscale undergarments, and Michael Stars GG Collectives.
This collection is includes several items of fall essentials such as sweaters, scarves and shirts.
“We also have purses and some shoes,” Moore said.
While a it’s a small store right now, they have already had plenty of business and they hope it continues to grow.
Moore said the dream is to open other locations of Crescent Moon in other cities.
“It’s growing right now through word of mouth and everyone who has come in has liked it,” he said.
The business’ location is convenient due to the fact that Moore’s other daughter, Jessica Moore, works for The Hive, a hair salon right next to Crescent Moon.
“Her clients can go right over from The Hive,” Moore said. “She can open up at any time.”
Jessica confirmed this and said that if anyone wants to look around outside Crescent Moon’s business hours, to call her or come by The Hive. She’d then run over and show them around.
Crescent Moon is open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Monkeypox must be a joke from above
It’s been over 10 years since I moved out of sporting writing and began writing a column for the editorial page. Every so often this year, I’m rerunning a piece from the first year of the transition. This column first appeared in The Duncan Banner in June 2003.

A special day for memories
Father’s Day is a special occasion in my life. Thoughts of my dad surface easily. And lessons he taught seem to be entrenched in the lives of our three sons even though he died before their births.
