One dead in early morning car crash

DUNCAN — Marlow law enforcement and emergency services were dispatched to a motor vehicle fire caused by a crash into a creek Saturday morning, claiming the life of the driver.

According to Police Chief Jimmy Williams, Dustin Duncan, 29, was driving south on Plainsman Road and upon reaching the intersection of Alexander Road, drove through the T-junction and crashed into a ditch.

The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames shortly after, Williams said. The crash took place around 12:30 to 12:45 a.m Saturday.

“The subject may have fallen asleep,” Williams said.

The crash was reported by nearby residents who saw the flickering of the flames coming from the ditch.

Marlow Interim Fire Chief Ryan Hall said the Marlow Fire Department arrived on scene at 1:04 a.m. and were able to contain the fire from the vehicle within minutes.

“When we got there, the flames were coming from the engine compartment and were spreading to the cab,” Hall said.

The fire was contained to the motor vehicle and did not spread beyond.

Arrangements were made to transport the body to medical examiners in Oklahoma City while the investigation into the crash is still underway.

  • A special day for memories

Father’s Day is a special occasion in my life. Thoughts of my dad surface easily. And lessons he taught seem to be entrenched in the lives of our three sons even though he died before their births.
