DUNCAN —
Two Duncan men were arrested Wednesday night in connection to a home invasion being investigated by the Duncan Police Department.
Michael Dorste, 32, aka Droste, and William Dow, 23, are facing multiple charges in relation to the incident, which took place around 8:18 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 1400 block of S. Seventh.
An affidavit filed by Sgt. David Woods of the Duncan Police Department in Stephens County District Court states, “In route to the call, the dispatcher advised that the suspects were trying to kick in the door. She advised that there were three suspects.”
Woods said he and Officer Michael Davidson arrived on the scene at the same time, but were coming from different directions. Davidson took off after one of the suspects, Dorste.
The affidavit said Woods heard Davidson ordering the suspects to the ground.
“As I went ahead, I observed Davidson take a white male to the ground and after a struggle placed the suspect into handcuffs. The suspect was identified as Michael Dorste,” Woods noted. During a routine pat down of Dorste, a syringe was found in his front left pocket, according to the affidavit.
“Dorste said he was there because someone at the residence had threatened his niece. I asked Dorste who was with him, and he said he did not know. Davidson advised that the other suspect was wearing a blue tank top.”
Woods said he searched around the residence to see if he could find the person wearing the blue tank top.
“I searched the area for the other suspect, but he was not in the immediate area,” Woods said.
Three people were inside the residence during the home invasion. These included two males and a female, who had been in a relationship with Dorste, according to the affidavit.
“We met with the female,” Woods said. “She said they had received multiple phone calls from them earlier in the evening.”
Woods said the incident started when Dow allegedly knocked on the door of the residence. One of the occupants answered the door and then was asked by the suspects if the other two occupants were in the residence, he said.
When the occupant said “no,” Dow allegedly “pushed open the door. (The occupant) pushed against William, then William knocked him down and entered the residence. They advised that William had a crow bar and a knife,” according to the affidavit.
“At that point, (the occupant) said he retreated to his bedroom. (Another male occupant) said he stepped forward as William came into the house. (He) advised William tried to cut him with a knife but missed. (The occupant) said that he grabbed a kitchen knife and struck William’s hand.
“He said at that point, William exited the house.”
Woods said the female occupant also left the house to allegedly confront Dorste.
“She said Dorste pushed her down,” Woods said. “There was another suspect that was also there watching all this go down.”
The female ran back into the house, locked the doors and called the police, according to the affidavit.
“I noticed dried blood on her but she could not explain where exactly it came from,” according to the affidavit. “I looked her over, and she had no visible injuries at that time.”
Woods said, while the three occupants were calling the police, Dow and Dorste allegedly tried to regain entry into the residence by throwing rocks through windows.
The rocks went through the windows and into the living room. A TV screen and a window pane in the door were busted by the rocks.
“Officer Ron Corcorran arrived on the scene and I advised him to impound a vehicle that was used by the suspects,” Woods said. “In a wallet in the center console, he found an ID card that belonged to William Dow.
Woods said it took less than 30 minutes for police officers to meet up with a man wearing a blue tank top and an injured hand at Ninth and Bois d’Arc. The man, who was allegedly identified as William Dow, told Officer Alvarez he had been jumped.
Dow was taken to Duncan Regional Hospital where he received stitches for his hand wound. Both Dorste and Dow were arrested and booked into Stephens County Jail. Dow faces charges including burglary in the first degree and assault with a deadly weapon. Dorste faces charges including a misdemeanor warrant, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting arrest and domestic abuse.
As of 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Dorste and Dow were still in the Stephens County Jail. The home occupants were also taken to DRH, although they were not admitted for injuries, Woods said.
