Record snow covers New England *special Photos

SALISBURY, Mass. —  Authorities forced about 1,000 residents to evacuate Salisbury Beach, Mass., as a storm surge raked the ocean-front community during a winter storm that lived up to its billing Friday and Saturday.


Coastal damage was also reported in Gloucester, and a potentially record-setting snowfall shut down much of Massachusetts and New England.
