DUNCAN —
Duncan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s first Chamber Breakfast of the season is going to have a full agenda.
With two sponsors, Arvest and Western Fall Fest, there will be two door prizes at the event that begins at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in the Simmons Center Redbud Courtyard.
“It’s a good community event and anyone from the community is invited,” said Laurie Baldwin, Chamber of Commerce director of events. “We usually fill that room up, so make reservations.”
The breakfast is a good way to start the day with an all-you-can eat buffet and plenty of information about upcoming events in the community.
Baldwin described it as easy going and fun.
September has several events that are planned to take place and the three minute blocks of time to hear from one of the event leaders gives information about what you can expect.
“At the end of last year, we started to add one six minute speaker because we wanted to add more substance,” said Baldwin. “These would be people who had something to share that is upcoming and going to affect the community.”
For the September meeting, Gary Jones, state auditor, will be the six minute speaker.
Baldwin said that nearly everyone who attends will walk out with something they needed and information about an event or two they knew nothing of.
Blaine Smith and Loisdawn Jones will continue their duties as a dynamic duo of MCs and along with the door prizes, there will also be a $75 monthly drawing during the breakfasts.
“We always play a fun, friendly and fast game too,” Baldwin said.
Chamber Breakfasts are always the first Thursday of the month at 6:45 a.m. and last about an hour in the Red Bud Courtyard. Cost is $7.50.
