Girl Scouts go green for St. Patrick's Day cookie sales

DUNCAN — Girl Scouts from Troop 514 and 3473 in Duncan spent their St. Patrick's Day Sunday in a definite green spirit as they sold cookies with a week left for sales. Daisy Carlea Lance was tickled when customers Monica Wickham and Stephanie Winn, wanted to know the variety of Girl Scout cookies they had left on their table.

The girls and customers all wore green to show their St. Patrick's Day spirit. The Girl Scouts, Carlea and Cayleigh  and Callyssa Boomgarden, had help from leaders Rachel Wagenseller and Yvette Halderson, along with ambassorette RoseMarie Wagenseller, near the busy highway location at U.S. Highway 81 and Elder Avenue (Walgreen's). They said the green helped bring them a bit o' green (cash for cookies).

Today, they will be at Stockman's at Towne Square. This is Spring Break week and Rachel Wagenseller said there are many Girl Scouts out selling since March 24 is the last day. These two troops ordered about 3,700 boxes, said Halderson. They are nearly out of the cookies.

Since I spend most of my working hours in offices in Duncan and Waurika, it’s nice both communities now have recycling programs so I can deposit the sticky notes that serve as my memory.
