Freedom Motors aims to be better alternative for resale lots

DUNCAN — On Jan. 14, Freedom Motors Manager Bobby Sager opened his used car resale lot at 702 N.  U.S. Hwy 81. Since then, he has been working to provide a better alternative to in-house financing than other shops in the area.

“We try to protect the customer from the point of sale on,” Sager said. “We offer a free 12 month, 12,000 mile Power Train warranty. That is on the engine and the transmission. That comes on every car that we finance in-house. The only requirement on this is that every five months or five thousand miles, they bring the car in for the oil change.”
In addition to a full detail shop on-site, Freedom Motors has two full-time mechanics on hand to perform the required maintenance to qualify for the warranty.
“When we do the oil change, we will just charge them for the oil and filter so they get a cheap oil change,” Sager said. “We get to inspect the vehicle for wear and things like that. We try to prevent any future problems.”
Sager said Freedom Motor’s warranty is better than a majority of warranties offered by other similar lots in the area.
“Our main philosophy is if a person cannot make it to work or cannot make it from point ‘a’ to point ‘b,’ then they are going to have a hard time making their payments,” Sager said. “We are a better alternative to in-house financing but we also have bank financing too.”
Freedom Motors keeps about 20 to 25 cars on the lot with most of the priced under $10,000. Sager said down payments at Freedom Motors typically ranges from $500 to $1500.
“We try to cater to the folks that have no credit history just trying to start some and that are trying to reestablish because of a bad situation,” he said.
Sager, who has been involved in car sales for 20 years, said he believes in treating customers the way he would like to be treated if her were buying a car.
“We try to take care of our customers,” he said. “You cannot please everyone but we sure try. We give them the best warranty we can. If there are any issues, we want feedback from our customers. We want to know how we are doing.”
Freedom Motors offers various late-model, pre-owned cars, trucks, SUVs and vans.
The lot is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Since I spend most of my working hours in offices in Duncan and Waurika, it’s nice both communities now have recycling programs so I can deposit the sticky notes that serve as my memory.
