OKLAHOMA CITY —
The Stephens County Fair Board approved accepting the resignation of David Davies from the fair board. Davies represents Stephens County District 1.
It was one of two items on the Board of Stephens County commissioners agenda when they met Tuesday.
In order to fill the vacancy created by Davies’ resignation, the commissioners also approved Kevin Crawford to the District 1 position on the fair board.
Approved by the board was that Cody Earls be hired as a full-time employee for the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center.
Earls has been working part-time for a few months.
“He’s a good worker,” said Mike Anderson, director of the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center. “He livens up the fairgrounds.” Earls also serves as “funny man” or the barrel man at area rodeos, including the most recent rodeos this summer at both the Fair & Expo Center and the Claud Gill Arena.
Other items:
- In new business, the commissioners approved to make a clarification to the sales tax resolution that will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
Previously, it said the potential 0.15 percent sales tax was for county fire departments and senior centers and now it is clarified by saying county fire departments and senior ‘nutrition’ centers.
- The commissioners approved a contract between Stephens County and Computer Mapping Co.
This contract, which is on behalf of the county assessor, is for annual support for the MIMS mapping program for the 2012-13 fiscal year.
- The commissioners approved the capital outlay purchases for the month of August, and the notice of employee appointments and terminations.
Items similar to this are approved monthly by the board.
- The board also approved the payment of purchase orders and the issuance of blanket purchase orders. This is an item the commissioners approve weekly.
- Another weekly item is the approval of any county utility permits.
