The Board of Stephens County Commissioners accepted a bid for $39,295 from Medley Materials Handling in Oklahoma City for a propane-powered Riding Power Scrubber for the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center in Monday’s meeting.
The machine will be used by the center to clean the arena, the parking lot and other areas of the fairgrounds. The machine is capable of sweeping, scrubbing and vaccuming. It can also sweep and scrub at the same time.
Originally, the bid was $39,995. However, District 2 Commissioner Lonnie Estes will be traveling to Oklahoma City to pick up the machine,which is knocking $700 off the price.
The board also approved a facilities solutions agreement for uniforms from Cintas for District 2. Estes said his employees asked for uniforms to keep their clothes from getting torn up and agreed to pay half of the charge for the items.
“Basically, we are buying their shirts and they are buying the pants,” Estes said.
The price varies for each of the 14 employees and is dependent on which of six clothing options they chose but will come to about $8 per week.
The board also rejected bids for a 2004 or newer model Tractor Trucks for District 3, which was a tabled item from Feb. 19. District 3 Commissioner Dee Bowen said he wanted to look at buying a new model.
In other business, the board approved:
- A software and service agreement between Stephens County and KellPro on behalf of the Sheriff’s Department.
- A cooperative agreement between S.V. Arrington and the Board of County Commissioners to clear trees along a roadway and clean ditch to allow water to get off of road.
- A resolution for the disposal of a Dell computer for District 3.
