Heritage Center opens exhibits

DUNCAN — Two exhibits will open at Chisholm Trail Heritage Center with a reception at 6:30 p.m. today.

Tom Simonton, an artist from Minco, will have his work featured and he is expected to attend the reception. The second exhibit is a partnership with the Ram Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo.

That event happens in October, and to generate excitement, artifacts have been gathered from rodeo royalty from Stephens County and the Chisholm Trail.

“Whether or not you consider yourself a fan of rodeo, this exhibit of saddles, buckles, promotional items and rodeo finery will set your imagination ablaze,” said Stacy Cramer Moore, Executive Director of CTHC.

“This is a tribute to the successes of local cowboys and cowgirls at the pinnacle of their chosen events.”

The exhibits will remain on display through the end of October.

For information about CTHC or the exhibits, call 580-252-6692. CTHC is located at 1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway (north of the Simmons Center).

Since I spend most of my working hours in offices in Duncan and Waurika, it’s nice both communities now have recycling programs so I can deposit the sticky notes that serve as my memory.
