DUNCAN —
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Stephens County Sheriff ’s deputies and other first responders arrived at a scene of a burning vehicle.
Sheriff Wayne McKinney said at that time, it appeared there may have been a person in the car.
The scene is being treated as a motor vehicle accident, based on earlier calls that there was a reckless or drunk driver in the vicinity of old Duncan Lake Road north of the Duncan Gun Club.
“It’s still too hot to get near it, but it appears there would be someone in there but we don’t
know yet,” McKinney said. “We think there’s at least one person and we will investigate it like a motor vehicle accident.” AMR and Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded also to the scene.
McKinney said that it appeared the car rolled off the road and it was fully involved when emergency personnel arrived.
No other details were available.
More details will be posted on The Banner’s website at www.duncanbanner.com as information becomes available.
