NORMAN — Jessica Lauren Sabedra and Stephen Shane Garvin exchanged wedding vows at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Alameda Church of Christ in Norman with the bride’s childhood preacher, Leonard Keele of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ in Duncan, officiating, along with a prayer by Phillip Johnson of Westside Church of Christ in Norman, preacher of the couple’s home congregation.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Miguel R. Sabedra of Duncan.
The groom is the son of Daril and Dr. Janet Garvin of Poteau, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hudson of Colorado Springs, Colo.
The ceremony was performed against a background of glass hurricane globes with white candles, and two 10- by 2-foot rectangles with a black pinstripe running down the middle. These were finished off with a large teal satin bow with black and white checkered ribbons for accent.
Raymond Mobley, soloist, provided music.
Members of the house party were Caroline Thompson of Norman, and Kristen McDonnell and Natalie Hubert, both of Dallas, Texas.
Ushers included friends and relatives of the couple and brothers of the bride: Taylor Atkinson of Edmond, Jeff Smith of Vici, Kaleb King of Duncan, Joshua Sabedra of Norman, and Vincent Sabedra of Duncan.
Bridal party members were Kari Marshall of Dallas, Erica Healey of Edmond, Jessi Bramlett of Austin, Texas, and Amanda Hale of Norman. Bridesmaids included Sabrina Wagner, and sister of the bride and maid of honor, Erica Sabedra, both of Duncan, and maid of honor and cousin of the bride, Kayli Smith of Oklahoma City.
Groomsmen were Justin Mann, Nathan McDaniel, Erick Warren, Dereck Warren and Luke Leming, all of Poteau. Best men were brothers of the groom: Chris Garvin of Missouri and Chad Garvin of Tulsa.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless Galina dress of white ruche taffeta.
The dress was mermaid cut, belling out at the knees, with pearl buttons down the back and a large white taffeta sash tied in a bow at the waist.
The bride wore a cameo ring that had belonged to her late maternal grandmother.
A birdcage veil with a feather hair fastener on the back and to the side of her hair completed her ensemble. She carried white hydrangeas with white satin ribbon and a crystal brooch.
The bridesmaids wore designer Galina dresses of black taffeta. The dresses were strapless, bubble-hemmed, knee-length with a black taffeta sash tied around the waist into a bow. They carried white hydrangeas with white lilies and teal ribbons.
The reception was held at The University of Oklahoma’s Sam Noble Museum of Natural History on OU’s Norman campus. Taylor Atkinson provided music for the reception. Following a wedding trip to Rome, the couple established a home in Moore.
