MARLOW — Spurlock Wedding

Taryn Nicole Brewer and Eric James Spurlock, both of Marlow, were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010. The ceremony was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, Bill and LaDawna Baker of Marlow.

Taryn is the daughter of Bill and LaDawna Baker of Marlow and Garry Brewer of Duncan. Eric is the son of Jim and Pam Spurlock of Marlow.

Taryn is the granddaughter of Don and Delores Spivey of Marlow, Tom and JoAnn Baker of Comanche and the late Allen Brewer and Corine Strong.

Eric is the grandson of Tiny and Shiela Spurlock of Duncan. He is the great-grandson of Dean Frost of Duncan.

Mike Bernhardt officiated the ceremony with the assistance of Roy Lanten and Jim Spurlock.

Mickey Peercy and Kari Peercy performed a rendition of “How Great Thou Art” and “How Great Is Our God,” on the trumpet and clarinet. “Chiming of the Hour” was performed on bells by Chase Brewer and Ali Spurlock. The bride and Caroline Johnson sang, “Grow Old Along with Me.” Jillyn Baker played “How Great is Our God,” on guitar as wedding guests sang in unison.

The wedding was held in a beautiful white tent with cathedral windows lighted with iron chandeliers adorned with crystal prisms creating a wedding theme of rustic elegance. Guests were greeted with a warm fireplace built by the bride’s aunt and grandfather and the guest registry was set on a table that belonged to her maternal great-grandparents.

The aisle was lined with round tables dressed with white floor length linens and black and white damask runners. The tables were topped with iron and glass lighted hurricanes, winter greenery, day lillies and orchids with touches of orange.

The ceremony took place in front of an iron Allison table as the altar, topped with the unity candle and a flower arrangement dedicated to the bride’s maternal grandparents who were married on that day in 1959. Tall iron and glass hurricane lighted candles stood on the side of the altar.

The bride was escorted by her father, Garry Brewer, and was given in marriage by her parents, then joined the groom and each of their parents at the altar for a for family prayer.

The bride wore a white Mori Lee Radial pleated strapless bodice, fitted beaded waist with a soft flowing A-line skirt. Swarovski crystals covered the bodice and center back fabric covered buttons from top of bodice down to the hem. She wore a fur wrap to and from the wedding that was accessorized by her late great-grandmother’s broach. The ensemble was completed with a pair of lime-colored satin J. Renee shoes.

The bride had a matching white veil falling just below the shoulder that was made by the bride’s grandmother.

The bride’s bouquet was white day lillies and winter greens consisting of pines, ferns and pine cones. The bride wore a diamond watch that belonged to her maternal grandmother who was married on the same day in 1959.

Jillyn Baker, Marlow, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Caroline Johnson, Oklahoma City, was the matron of honor.

Kelsie Spivey and Tara Spurlock, both of Marlow, were the bridesmaids.

The attendants wore tone on tone black damask print, fitted, falling right below the knee, strapless with a v-cut in the center front neckline. The attendants carried mercury glass lanterns with candles.

Laney McDaniel, cousin of the bride, of Norman, carried a moss basket filled with faux snow and white carnation petals.

Drew Williams, of Abilene, Texas, was the best man. Groomsmen were Roy Lanten and Andy Morris of Marlow, and Joey Bechtel of Oklahoma City.

Ushers were Kole Spivey and Weston Spivey of Marlow.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

Tristen Spivey of Marlow was the guest book attendant.

Mindy Oglesby and Kelsey Graham, both of Tulsa, and Tamra McCaig of Geronimo, were reception assistants.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the Cedar Street Grill the night before the wedding. The hosts were the parents of the groom, Jim and Pam Spurlock.

The newlywed couple went to Cancun, Mexico, for their wedding trip.

They established a home in Marlow upon returning.

Bridal showers were held at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Duncan, First Baptist Church in Marlow, at the home of Jeff and Miranda Lenocker in Edmond and there was a bridal breakfast at the home of Kern and Jenny Heffington in Marlow.
