Season ends for Demons, Lady Demons

DUNCAN — With the Demons and Lady Demons each suffering losses in the first round of regionals, basketball season in Duncan came to a close Friday night.

Strong first quarters were not enough to save either Duncan team, as the Demons fell 71-39 (5-19) to Carl Albert and the Lady Demons (4-20) lost 60-39 to Piedmont.

Demons

The Demons hung tough in the first half, but the last two quarters told a different story in the team’s loss to the Titans.

Though Duncan trailed by just three at halftime, but Carl Albert took over for good after winning the second half by a combined total of 43-14.

For Duncan, the defeat caps a year that included a 5-3 start but ended on a 16-game losing streak.

In their final games, seniors Cade Baldwin and Jack Braught led the Demons in scoring with 12 points each. Junior Isiah Ervin added seven points while senior Carter David put in four.

Lady Demons

Trailing by two after the first quarter, Duncan was then outscored by more than 10 points in all three final quarters in the loss.

The Lady Wildcats allowed just two second-quarter points and built a comfortable lead in the game’s final half.

Leading the way for the Lady Demons were Sarah Ray with 14 points and Jamie Carberry with 12.

Duncan finished its season on a seven-game losing skid.
