RUSH SPRINGS —
For at least a half Thursday night, Donkey fans had hope that the Bray-Doyle boys long losing streak would finally come to an end.
Unfortunately, the Dibble Demons were in no mood to let that happen.
After leading 15-14 at halftime, B-D was slowly worn down by the Demons offense as the Donkeys were eliminated from the Black Diamond Tournament 41-26.
With the second half came a much different result than what the first brought, as the Donkeys were showing signs of brilliance with fast break points and solid defense.
However, both of those were lacking in the second half as the Demons cracked down and made clutch shots along with getting rebounds in the paint.
Dibble took the lead for good at the 2:45 mark of the third at 25-23, closing out the quarter on a 5-0 run to set the tone for the fourth.
B-D could not get any closer than eight points in the fourth as its hopes for a first victory of the season were extinguished in the blink of an eye.
At the end of the first quarter, the Donkeys held an 11-8 lead only after holding a 9-4 lead earlier at the 3:35 mark.
Leading the scoring on the evening for the Donkeys (0-9) was Greg Perez and Jesse Bearce who each totaled eight points. Perez added five rebounds while Bearce totaled four.
Craig Brown added five points, while Josh Goodrich scored three points.
Dibble (8-4) was led by Drake Sumner with 14 points followed by Dylan Cook with 11 points.
Bray-Doyle will next be in action on Jan. 15 when it travels to play Healdton.
