DUNCAN —
It’s a game Duncan recent graduates have circled on the calendar. It’s their coach vs. their team.
Andrew McClung will return to Duncan High School tonight, brining along his Cache Lady Bulldogs, to take on a Lady Demon program he spent the last three seasons coaching.
“Today I’ve been getting texts from last year’s seniors,” McClung said Monday. “They have all been telling us they are going to try to be here for this game.
“They said they are going to sit right behind our bench and they said, ‘If you’re not as loud with them as you were with us, we’re going to be upset.’”
Several of Duncan’s current players are excited about the game as well.
“There are only two or three that really were with him, the rest are kind of new to it,” Duncan coach Aaron Minor said. “I have overheard those few make comments that they would really like to beat him.”
Both Minor and McClung’s squads are in the process of rebuilding, coming into the game. Both programs are still trying to figure out their identities after graduating most of their starters from last season.
“It will be a court full of inexperience on both sides,” said McClung, whose team is 3-3. “We have 17 girls on our roster and 10 are freshmen.”
The Lady Demons (1-4) are looking to stop their recent skid, having taken a pair of lopsided road losses to Altus and El Reno.
“We are still pretty good (mentally). I’ve tried to stress that it’s a long season and we’re not going to win every game, we knew that coming in,” Minor said. “They are still staying pretty focused and they still have plenty of confidence right now.”
Adding to the Lady Demons’ confidence is a roster that is gradually getting healthy. Freshman Paityn Bower saw her first action of the season on Friday after healing up from and injury and Duncan should get several more players in the upcoming days and weeks.
“We are going to start slowly getting people back between now and the end of Christmas break,” Minor said. “I think that will definitely help.”

36th Annual Blowout starts Friday morning

The tournament will include a field of 256 golfers, making up 128 teams. -
