DUNCAN —
This is a game Brandon Carletti-Silva has been looking forward to 10 months.
When the former Duncan quarterback was in West Point, N.Y., touring the campus, he already started hearing about the Army-Navy football game, possibly the most storied rivalry in all of sports.
Since arriving on campus, he has had constant reminders. Even the weights he lifts ready “beat Navy.”
“It’s going to be awesome,” Carletti-Silva said about playing in the annual game shortly after signing with Army on Feb. 8 in Duncan. “I was talking with some of the players about it when I was up there, and it’s going to be really amazing to be a part of that.”
Carletti-Silva won’t likely be on the field Saturday for the final game of college football’s regular season, as he spent this season on the “Army Prep” squad.
Navy comes into the game as a heavy favorite, sporting a 7-4 record, while Army is 2-9.
That discrepancy, though, certainly won’t diminish the game. The Black Knights have even kicked it up a notch as they recently unveiled their uniforms for the game: Black tops and bottoms, paying homage to World War II with a map from the Battle of the Bulge within the numbers and even on the shoes.
The game is slated to kickoff at 2 p.m. in West Point.
