The Velma-Alma cross country girls finished in second place out of 10 teams at a meet at Cameron hosted by Elgin.
Robyn Sanner and Chelsey Grundy each finished in the top 10. Sanner ran 2.1 miles in 15:11, good for fourth individually. Grundy was two places behind her in sixth at 15:32.
Kayla Harman was 16th with a time of 16:38. Brittni Hopkins was 20th with a time of 17:12 with Braylee Henry behind her at 26th with a time of 17:37. Bita Humphreys was 45th out of 99 runners, coming in at 18:45.
Emily Combest was the top runner for the junior high girls, finishing sixth. Cailin Wright was 10th and the Lady Comets came in second out of 11 teams.
Jose Torres took third place individually for the junior high boys. John Boehl came in 10th, helping lead the Comets to a fourth-place finish out of eight teams.
