Comanche graduate and University of Oklahoma football player Brandon Crow has seen a lot of different things while playing for the Sooners.
Crow was The Duncan Banner’s Player of the Year in 2005 after a senior season filled with statistics. Crow had 244 tackles, four sacks and an interception his senior year on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, he rushed for 524 yards and five touchdowns, averaged 10.7 yards per carry and had 38 receptions for 457 yards and six touchdowns.
He earned a scholarship to play football for OU four years ago and is now set to enter his final season in Norman. Not only has he seen a lot during his time, he’s learned a lot, too.
“There are certain guys who I have looked up to throughout my years here and these same guys have helped me so much while being here,” Crow said.
Among the things Crow has learned at OU is a new position. He didn’t just change positions, he moved to the other side of the ball from linebacker to fullback.
“When I first got here, Lewis Baker was one of the players who helped me out a lot,” Crow said. “When I moved to fullback I had to learn a whole new position and the guys have worked with me on that.”
Crow said that he was not sure which position he liked playing more and said that each has certain appeal to it.
“I have always enjoyed playing defense,” Crow said. “However, I am really liking the offensive side of the ball too, so I’m not really sure which I enjoy more.”
Being a part of the Sooner team for so long, Crow said that he has made many friends and many memories along the way.
“The first time that I played in front of so many people my redshirt season was an awesome feeling,” Crow said. “Playing against Texas for the first time was also a great experience.”
Crow noted that he has many personal goals and also goals that he wants to achieve with his teammates.
“This being my senior year, I would definitely like to be seen as a leader on the team,” Crow said. “I think as a team one goal that we have and that a lot of players have is to win all of our games and go to a BCS bowl game.”
Brandon’s father, Brent Crow, principal at Comanche Elementary, said that he has enjoyed watching his son play through the years.
“It’s kind of hard to put into words, it’s been great,” Brent said. “We’ve traveled to almost every one of their games. We have enjoyed the experience and watching him when he played, and even when he wasn’t in, it was still a lot of fun.”
Brent Crow added that he is ready for this season to begin and to watch his son and the rest of the Sooners play.
“I’m looking forward to the season and watching him play,” Brent said. “Knowing that it’s his last year, it’s gonna be hard. We’ve been watching that boy play for a long time.”
Brandon said that he is also ready for the season to begin.
“It’s my final season so I am ready,” Brandon said. “It is going to be a good year and I am just ready to get it started.”
