DUNCAN —
As the New York Giants can attest, you don’t have to play great all season long, you just have to get hot at the right time.
The Marlow Outlaws certainly appear to be putting things together at the perfect time, topping Pauls Valley, 57-37 on Friday for their second straight win with just one left in the regular season.
The Outlaws (6-14) pulled out to an 11-10 lead in the first quarter and 22-19 by halftime before burying Pauls Valley in the second half, outscoring it 15-8 in the third quarter and 20-10 in the fourth.
The 57 points was Marlow’s highest scoring output since going for 60 in an opening-day loss. It is only the second time this season the Outlaws have won back-to-back games.
Sophomore Wes Coast led Marlow with 14 points, while sophomore Trey Coffman had 12 and senior Jon Anderson scored 10. Junior Wakley Bergner had eight points, senior Hunter McClure added seven, junior Jackson Huddleston had four and sophomore Kirby Nuefeld chipped in with two.
GIRLS
DAVIS 42, COMANCHE 27
The Lady Indians’ third-quarter woes struck again on Friday as they scored just one point in the third quarter, watching as Davis pulled away for good.
Comanche (12-10) was down 19-17 at halftime before being outscored 11-1 in the third period, all but sealing their fate on senior night.
“We were right where we wanted to be, down two points at half, and then we came out in the third quarter and got one point on a free throw,” Comanche coach Sean Hushbeck said. “We struggled to score and at times we struggled to even get a shot off.”
It was the Lady Indians’ worst scoring output of the season and led them to back-to-back losses for only the second time.
Senior Ashley Spann led Comanche with 10 points, while senior Mica Allen-Smith had eight and senior Zana Crowson had six.
