Lady Donkeys finish off Fox
B-D improves to 8-3 on the year
BRAY — The Bray-Doyle Lady Donkeys finished a solid first half of the season by taking down Fox, 76-24, Friday night. The Lady Donkeys improved to 8-3 going into winter break where they will have a few weeks off before traveling to the Black Diamond Tournament in Rush Springs.
Beka Gates and Kendra Balthrop each scored 15 points to lead the Lady Donkeys. Bray-Doyle jumped on top early, leading 20-3 after the first quarter and 44-12 at halftime.
Bray-Doyle shot 27-of-31 from the foul line. Lady Donkeys’ headcoach Jaicee Powers said her team attacked the basket to draw the fouls.
“We were really aggressive to the basket,” Powers said. “The Fox girls are very physical and very athletic.”
Fox was unable to contain the Bray-Doyle attack as four Lady Donkeys scored in double figures and every Lady Donkey scored in the game.
“We played together and that was evident with having four players in double-digits,” said Powers.
Powers was able to clear her bench and let her younger players gain experience.
Sarah Justus and Shelbi Copeland were the other two Lady Donkey’s in double-digits with 12 points apiece. Kayleigh Stone had eight.
“The break is coming at a good time for my girls,” said Powers. “They need to get refreshed and be ready to go for the most important part of the season.”
The Lady Donkeys will be the No. 3 seed in the Black Diamond Tournament and will play No. 6 seed Sterling.
