BRIDGE CREEK — BRIDGE CREEK — Blake Henderson rushed 44 times for 255 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bridge Creek Bobcats to a 34-15 victory over the Comanche Indians Friday night at Bridge Creek.
The Indians finish the season 4-6 (2-5) while the Bobcats moved into the playoffs with a 9-1 (7-0) record.
Comanche jumped on top early as Dillon Wilson finished off a 38-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Bobcats answered with a 13-play, 80-yard drive capped by Henderson’s first touchdown to pull ahead 8-7 after the two-point conversion. Wilson wasted little time getting the Indians back on top, going 78 yards two plays later to put Comanche on top 15-8.
The two teams traded punts before the Bobcats came up with an interception to get the ball at the Comanche 23-yard line. Four plays later Henderson added another one-yard touchdown run, and the Bobcats moved in front 16-15 after the two-point conversion.
Henderson began the second half with a 62-yard touchdown run his third of the game, to push the Bridge Creek lead to 24-15. The Bobcats got a safety and Henderson had a late 15-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.
“Throughout the season there’s a play here or there in each ball game that we’re just not making,” Comanche head coach Brent Clark said. “We’re a good football team, and right now, I’ll tell you we’re a playoff football team. Four of our six losses were by seven or less points.
“This game here (tonight) could have went either way. This senior bunch led us tremendously. What else can you say about a team that is out of the playoffs the last two games of the year and show the character to play two of the top teams in the state the way we did. As a program I think they got some foundation laid where we can move on. I’m proud of them.”
Wilson rushed 10 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Indians.

Senior Night proved to be quite beneficial for V-A thanks to a strong second half, which broke open a close game, giving the Lady Comets a 52-36 victory over the Healdton Lady Bulldogs. -

Monday night saw the No. 4 Velma-Alma Comets send a clear message to the rest of the field in the playoffs: The road to Oklahoma City will run through Velma, one way or another.
V-A wasted no time in dismantling the Healdton Bulldogs on Senior night, as the Comets finished the regular season 23-0, thanks to a 72-12 victory. -
