DUNCAN —
Before his team’s scrimmage against the Ada Cougars Tuesday night, head coach Marcus Williams had predicted his team would score goals.
But, not even he was prepared for what his team put out at Halliburton Stadium.
Duncan scorched the Cougars with two goals in the first half, followed by three in the second half to claim a 5-1 victory.
“Everything came together tonight for us,” Williams said. “We’re starting to get guys back and when we get a couple more back then we will be more dangerous than we were tonight.”
Josh Adamson added to his total this preseason, scoring the first goal of the night in the first half, before Justin McCall cooly slotted home the Demons second goal of the night.
Allen Gonzalez made it 3-0 in the second half when he collected a corner kick and shot the ball into the right hand corner past the Cougars goalie.
Adamson’s second goal of the night was definitely one for the ages, as he sent his free kick effort soaring into the top right hand corner of the net, making the score 4-0.
McCall also got his second goal of the night when he collected a pass and scored Duncan’s fifth of the night.
Ada managed to spoil the shutout late on after a scramble in the penalty box resulted in a goal for the Cougars.
“We wanted to come out and posses the ball and really shoot to score,” Williams said. “I’m very pleased to see the kids putting in the effort on the training ground and transferring it out here to a game situation. I can’t say enough about how proud I am.”
DHS will be on the road Saturday taking on Chickasha in another scrimmage.
