DUNCAN —
At least one area Class 2A school will be in the Region 2 tournament, but it might come at the expense of another.
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activity Association announced the postseason sites for Class 2A-4A basketball teams on Thursday, placing Central High and Empire in District 8 at Wilson.
The Wilson boys (18-2) will likely come in as a favorite over the Bronchos (12-8) and Bulldogs (4-15). On the girls’ side, Central High boasts the best record (14-5), followed by the Lady Bulldogs (11-8) and then Wilson (6-14).
In Class 3A, where districts are only two teams, Marlow is headed to Frederick, while Comanche is bound for Plainview.
The Marlow boys’ (11-8) recently outperformed Frederick (11-5) at the Stephens County Tournament, though the two didn’t play each other. The Marlow Lady Outlaws (11-8), meanwhile, won the tournament, while Frederick (8-9) took a loss early.
Comanche will be in for a challenge. The Indians (8-11) are taking on the 11th-ranked team inx Plainview (16-3), while the Lady Indians (2-16) are up against sixth best team in Class 3A in Plainview (16-3).
