DUNCAN —
Stephens County will be well represented at the 2013 State Wrestling Competition this weekend.
In total there will be eight wrestlers going to Oklahoma City, after three more wrestlers stamped their tickets at the Class 3A competition this weekend in Kingfisher.
Comanche finished the team competition in fifth place with 93.5 points with Marlow placing ninth with a total of 76.5 points.
Waurika wrestler Josh Jacobson finished in 19th place with seven points as the lone representative for the Eagles.
JonWayne Townsend claimed the Indians only regional championship in the 132 pound division as he defeated Cade Wheelwright of Plainview by an 8-4 decision.
Corey Williams managed to make the consolation championship bout in the 113 pound division, but ultimately fell to Payden Day from Blackwell as a result of a 6-4 decision.
Cody Scroggins also made the consolation championship match at 132 pounds, but was pinned by Geary’s Cody Lewis at the 3:22 mark.
