DUNCAN —
It was a strong year for high school football in Stephens County, with six of the seven schools reaching the playoffs. Leading the area schools to that success was a talented field of athletes.
VYPE Magazine recently took note of that talent as it announced its All-VYPE Southwest Oklahoma Football Team on Monday.
Velma-Alma’s Dallen Mercer was named first team as a running back and as a linebacker. He was the only player named to both the first team offense and defense.
Duncan’s Jack Braught was named the first-team kicker/punter, while teammate Derek McKnight was named a second-team defensive lineman and Ryan Haley was named a second-team defensive back.
Comanche’s Kale Reed was named a second-team running back, while Zach Young and Jonathan Robinson were named second-team defensive backs.
Empire’s Trey Skiles was named a second-team linebacker.
Central High’s Kevin Harris was a second-team running back.
