COMANCHE — The Indians picked it up in the second half and knocked off Kingston 50-40 in a make-up game Monday night. Clayton Bennett turned in a strong outing with 15 points and Josh Peevy knocked down three 3-pointers to lead the Indians to the win.

“It was our first full game without our point guard (Zac Young) and you could tell early that we weren’t getting out and running like we had been,” Comanche coach Nick Price said. “I think Tyler (Olheiser) will be fine at point guard for us.

“Clayton Bennett had a big second quarter for us and we went up 19-17 at the half and led the rest of the game.”

Comanche will be back in action tonight when it faces Marietta.

Kingston girls 45, Comanche 41

COMANCHE — The Lady Indians took a one-point lead late in the game but could not convert it into a victory as they dropped a 45-41 decision to Kingston.

Ashley Spann scored 15 points to lead the Lady Indians and Stephanie Dunlap tacked on 13.

“We took a one-point lead with a minute and a half to go,” Comanche coach Sean Hushbeck said. “We got the ball and threw it away. On the play, Dunlap blocked the shot but they called an intentional foul.”

Kingston turned the call into four points and never trailed again to pick up the win.

Healdton boys 61, Bray-Doyle 34

HEALDTON — Healdton claimed the Oilfield Conference championship with a 61-34 win over Bray-Doyle Monday night. The Donkeys dropped to 17-5 and will play Friday night in the district tournament against Rush Springs.

The Bulldogs led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but shut out Bray-Doyle in the second quarter to a take a 27-14 lead. The Donkeys kept it a 13-point game through the third quarter but Healdton unleashed in the fourth with 21 points.

“At this time of year, we’re focused on the playoffs and hopefully that’s what it was tonight,” Bray-Doyle coach Darian Dickson said. “We just played flat tonight and didn’t play as a team. There was nothing we could do tonight.”

Corbin Byford scored 24 of the Donkeys’ 34 points. Hayden Dickson was the next leading scorer with five.
