DUNCAN —
The selection of Duncan’s Dennis Johnson, Republican, District 50, as a majority leader in the upcoming 54th Oklahoma Legislature is good for Duncan, for Stephens County, for southwestern Oklahoma and for Oklahoma.
Entering his seventh year as a legislator, Johnson, assumes a key leadership role on the team of Speaker of the House-elect T.W. Shannon of Lawton.
It’s an exciting time to be in so treasured a position, one where his overall leadership will be tested, one where he can have an impact on state finances, economic development, agricultural growth, energy activities, military strength, employment, health care and education.
As a veteran of the 101-person House, he will be called on to balance the differences of urban vs, rural and to ensure southwestern Oklahoma is not overlooked or forgotten Johnson is a capable man.
His abilities to communicate clearly, to juggle effectively, to compromise intelligently and to stand his ground forcefully will mean much to those he represents. We encourage him to rely on common sense as he provides his best efforts. We wish him well. His good work will make a difference.

Is it ‘coincidence’ the OCE has no teeth?
Since I spend most of my working hours in offices in Duncan and Waurika, it’s nice both communities now have recycling programs so I can deposit the sticky notes that serve as my memory.
