COMANCHE — Georgia Ellen McFarland

April 29, 1935 — Jan. 23, 2012

Georgia Ellen McFarland, 76, of Comanche, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Meridian Nursing Home, following a brief illness.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m.

Georgia was born April 29, 1935, in Comanche, to George N. and Molly (Branch) Johnson. She and Fred McFarland were married Aug. 14, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Georgia loved gardening, sewing and just being around people. Georgia enjoyed the company of her dogs Skipper and Mitzi. She had a close circle of very dear friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Blacksher and husband Larry, of Comanche; a son, Freddie McFarland, of Comanche; a granddaughter, Jolene Griffin, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Paul, Freddy Ray and Christina; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred; a son, Jackie Ray McFarland; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Nephews serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Johnson, Dale Johnson, Wayne Treece, Roy Treece, Lawrence Absher and James McFarland.
