Tiny Normadean Estes

June 26, 1912 — Jan. 5, 2013

DUNCAN — Tiny Normadean Estes went home to her master and savior Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the age of 100, passing away in Duncan.

She was born June 26, 1912, at Retrop, to William S. and Mary Merril Clare.

Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Lakeside Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Lawrence Gresham and the Rev. Randy Widner with interment to follow at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Tiny and Fred Estes married March 25, 1930, and he preceded her in death May 5, 1973.

Tiny was a homemaker and graduated from Retrop High School at the age of 16. She was a charter member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where she served as a nursery worker and also worked in the Children’s Department. Tiny loved to sew and bake. She raised her two oldest children in west Texas and her two younger children In Oklahoma City.

In 1973, she moved to Lake Humphrey with her husband. She worked several places including the Clear Creek Lake Concession, Lakeside Grocery and operated the Stephens County Snackbar in the early 1980s. In the mid 1980s, she moved to Ruidoso Downs, N.M., to work for her daughter and son-in-law operating an RV park and was a treasured member of the First Baptist Church there.

Survivors include three children: Nona and Orval Blankenship, Ruidosa Downs, N.M., F.L. and Donna Estes, Duncan, Marva and Norbin Taylor, Del Rio, Texas; four sisters: Crawford and Wendell Cowles, Fort Worth, Texas, Madge and Al Harvey, California, Sondra and John Keesee, and Joyce Kay and Tony Hedrick, both of Hobart; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents, W.S. and Mary Merril Clare; a son, Bill Estes; a sister, Lola Rogers; and six brothers: Jack, Judge, Sam, Clifford, Charles, Leon and Clare.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Estes, David Hill, Steve Blankenship, Estes Conklin, Cody Manion and Matthew Estes. Honorary bearers are Kevin Hill, Scott Stevens, Rusty Smith, Cody Conklin, Jackson Carrio, Danny Hodges, Brian Brack and Natan Carrio.

Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church.
