COMANCHE — Billy Jack Tidwell, 78, of Comanche, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Duncan Regional Hospital, Duncan.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at New Hope Baptist Church West, Duncan, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Billy Jack was born Feb. 16, 1934, at Oil City, to Lloyd W. and Katie (Brown) Tidwell. He graduated from Empire High School. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. Billy Jack was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church West, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed competing in the Longbow Club competitions.

In 1952, Bill married Marilyn June Kiser and to this union three children were born. She preceded him in death April of 1977.  He married Patricia Welch in 1979, and they were married 31 years prior to her death in 2010. He married Eva Jane Woolwine on June 12, 2012.

Bill is survived by his wife, Eva Jane of the home; three children: Mike Tidwell and wife Carmen of Marlow, Jeff Tidwell and wife Becky of Red River, N.M., and Becky Villarreal and husband Paul of Duncan; two step-children: Lyndol Bridgers and wife Lisa of Walters, and Tammi Butler and husband Brad of Sapulpa; one brother, James Tidwell and his wife Rosa Lee of Comanche; seven grandchildren: Stephen Tidwell, Alyson and Tanner Cook, Whitni and Josh Greer, Karli Butler, Candace  Villarreal, Jerimy Simmons and Jack Tidwell; and two great-grandchildren: Taylor Ken Cook and Matherli Greer.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Albert Tidwell and Jessie Tidwell; and a sister, Bonnie Randall.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Grooms, Dale Turney, Stephen Tidwell, Jerimy Simmons, Jack Tidwell, Tanner Cook and Josh Greer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home.
