DUNCAN —
Bernice M. Bernard, 67, of Duncan, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Ray of Hope Church with her sons officiating along with the Rev. Charles Bernard. Burial will follow in the Hope Community Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Bernice was born Aug. 16, 1945, in Chickasha, to J.D. “Boone” and Dorothy (Welchell) McCoy.
She was a cook for the Central High and Duncan School systems for many years and a member of the Pecan Street Church of God. Bernice married Henry A. Bernard on March 22, 1962, at Wichita Falls, Texas, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2012.
Bernice is survived by five children: Tim Bernard and wife Brenda of Borger, Texas, David Bernard of Duncan, Matt Bernard and wife Lisa of Marlow; Mark Bernard and wife Susie of Fayetteville, Ark., and Beonsia Bernard of Duncan; a brother, Donald McCoy and wife Cathy of Midwest City; two sisters; Linda Hancock and husband Alvin of Comanche, and Carolyn Hall and husband Tom of Marietta; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Eugene, Melvin and Jackie McCoy; and by two sisters: JoAnn Tipton and LaDonna Gibbons.
Pallbearers will be Jake Bernard, Ben Bernard, Josh Bernard, Craig Bernard, Moses Ruiz, Bryan Scott, Charles Sprouse and David Boone Hancock.
