Paul Winston Hunt

March 16, 1921 — Oct. 31, 2012

COMANCHE —

Paul Winston Hunt went to be with the Lord Oct. 31, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at their family home.

The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church Comanche at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Meister, Paul’s son-in-law will conduct the service. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. and visitation Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Paul was born southwest of Hastings to David Lee and Mazie Whitaker Hunt. He attended school in Hastings. He married his high school sweetheart Gladys Vernell Hardy in 1943. Paul proudly served his country in the Army Aircorps during World War II, flying numerous combat missions. After the war, he became a civilian employee at Tinker AFB and retired in 1974. He and Nell moved to Comanche, where they enjoyed life on the family farm.

Paul loved his family, his church and Lord and served them all well.  He and Nell taught Sunday school for many years and touched many lives of the young people in the area. He will always be remembered for his catchy sayings, warm smile and generous nature. He enjoyed hunting, raising livestock and spending time with his neighbors. He had a green thumb and grafted many of the pecan trees that are currently on the family farm.

He is survived by his wife, Nell of the home; a daughter and son-in-law Paulette and Robert Meister of St. George, New Brunswick, Canada: a son and daughter-in-law Mark and Denise Hunt of Comanche; grandchildren Shannon Hunt of Norman, Christopher Hunt and his wife Caroline of Atlanta, Ga.: Joseph, Daniel and Amy Meister of St George, New Brunswick, Canada; step-grandchildren SPC Brooke Wisniewski of Ft Lewis, Wash. and SGT JR Wisniewski of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; sister-in-law Pauline Brokaw of San Bernardino, Calif.; sister-in-law Theda Soldani of Tulsa. He will be missed by many relatives, neighbors and friends who were all dear to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joe Hunt and wife Lois of Lawton, Brinkley Hunt and wife Billie of Chickasha and Clarence Hunt and wife Opal of Duncan; one sister Edith Morgan and husband Clifford "Demp" of Comanche, and daughter-in-law Debbie Hunt of Norman.

    Troy was born May 10, 1951, in Duncan, to Troy E. and Jeanette Rose Fowler Wilson. Troy has lived in Edmond, for the last nine years. He was a Navy Veteran and a hydraulic mechanic working on commercial equipment. Troy loved his family and fishing.

    Homer Gene Brown was born July 21, 1934, in Jefferson County to Weldon and Claudia Phelps Brown. He passed away on June 15, 2013, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 78.
    He was a 1952 graduate of Waurika High School. He and Charlene Snider married May 31, 1952, in Waurika.
