DUNCAN —
Mary Josephine “Jo” Bowden, 87, passed from this life into the presence of Jesus on Oct. 30, 2012, in Oklahoma City. She was born March 21, 1925, in Lenora, Texas, to Lila and William Coulter. Jo was the last surviving of nine children.
She married Winford Troy “Dub” Bowden, who was the love of her life. After a few years in Duncan, they settled in Velma. She was a devoted wife and mother and a joy to everyone who knew her. Jo was an active member of Velma Baptist Church.
She is now reunited with her parents; husband “Dub” Bowden; and her first daughter, Linda Darlene. Jo is survived by son, Leland Duane Bowden and wife Paula; daughter, Debbra and husband David Baldwin; grandchildren, Dawn Kuder, Ann Marie and husband Jayson Huff, Hannah and husband Brent Lovelace, Amy Baldwin, Danielle and husband Chris Rider; great-grandchildren, Jadon Steward, Aisley and Avalynn Lovelace, Finley Rider; sisters-in-law, Margie Barrick and Mary Abel; brothers-in-law, Jim, Bob and Lloyd Bowden. Services to celebrate her life will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Harvest Hills Baptist Church in Duncan with burial to follow at Duncan City Cemetery.

Melva Sue Blake, of Comanche, peacefully passed away Sunday afternoon, June 16, 2013, at Fort Worth, Texas. She was 71 years old.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from a.m. to service time Thursday. -

Troy was born May 10, 1951, in Duncan, to Troy E. and Jeanette Rose Fowler Wilson. Troy has lived in Edmond, for the last nine years. He was a Navy Veteran and a hydraulic mechanic working on commercial equipment. Troy loved his family and fishing. -

Homer Gene Brown was born July 21, 1934, in Jefferson County to Weldon and Claudia Phelps Brown. He passed away on June 15, 2013, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 78.
He was a 1952 graduate of Waurika High School. He and Charlene Snider married May 31, 1952, in Waurika. -
