COMANCHE —
Genell Phillips, a lifelong resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2012, at Duncan Regional Hospital. She was 81 years old.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and at 9 a.m. until service time Monday. Family will be receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Genell was born Sept. 24, 1931, near Walters, to Carl B. and Nellie Lois (Peck) Calame. On Nov. 8, 1947, she and Jack Phillips were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta, Texas. They had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Genell was a long time member of Comanche First Baptist Church. Her life revolved around her grandchildren which she loved dearly.
Survivors include her husband Jack, of the home; two sons: Jack L. Phillips and wife Edith, Duncan, and Dick N. Phillips, Comanche; a daughter, June Miller and husband Jason, Comanche; two grandsons: Neil Phillips and wife Jackie, Edmond, and Jaxon Miller, Comanche; three granddaughters: Heather Phillips, Duncan, and Jayden Miller and Jaylee Miller, both of Comanche; two great-grandchildren: Ryan and Sofia Patterson, Edmond; a brother, Bud Calame and wife Tynia, Hobbs, N.M.; and three sisters: Jean Pendleton, Artesia, Calif., Johnnie Hare, of Duncan, and Judy Benson and husband Loyd, Frederick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl B. Calame; two brothers-in-laws: Lefty Pendleton and Bob Hare; and a sister-in-law, Jean Calame.
Bearers will be Neil Phillips, Jason Miller, Jaxon Miller, Brad Benson, Bobby Hare and Carl Calame. Honorary bearer is Edward Calame.
