DUNCAN —
Funeral service for Paul Anthony Taliaferro, 78, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at First Baptist East with the Rev. Doug Passmore, and Rev. Tommy Cox, retired pastor of Bartlesville, officiating.
Burial followed at Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton, under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by his precious family, Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his home in Lawton.
Paul Anthony Taliaferro was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Lawton, to James Thomas (Jim) Taliaferro and Alice Margaret Howard Taliaferro. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Central High. He married the love of his life, Eleanor Elaine Eberhart, on Feb. 27, 1953, at Central Baptist Church, Central High. Paul and Elaine lived on a farm east of Lawton where they raised their family.
Paul was blessed with the gift of service. He served as an Oklahoma Senator, where he chaired the Board of Rules and served as Senate Whip. He was on the Farm Home Administrator Board, Central High School Board for eight years, Southwest Medical Center Board of directors, Goodwill Board of Directors and the Wildlife Conservation Board. He was a member of The Lawton Rangers, and The Cattleman’s Association. He was a member of Letitia Baptist Church for 40 years, where he served as a deacon for 20 years; also Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and leader of Royal Ambassadors for Boys.
Paul and Elaine are members of First Baptist East. In addition to serving his state, county, city, church and community, he and his family raised show lambs. As an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA, one of Paul’s proudest moments was watching his children win many ribbons and trophies, showing their animals. He was an avid hunter and marked the calendar, with great anticipation of quail season. Paul never met a stranger, his humble demeanor made everyone in his presence feel welcome and loved.
Paul is survived by his wife, Elaine, of the home; a son, Rickey Taliaferro and his wife Sara, of Lawton; three daughters, Denise Ezell and her husband Gary, of Elgin, Cynthia Malone and her husband Phil of Sayre, and Lisa Crenshaw, of Henrietta, Texas; his sister, Diann Logan, of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Melba Taliaferro and Imogene Taliaferro, both of Lawton; brother-in-law, Chester Eberhart; 11 grandchildren: Shane and Malynda Taliaferro, Tanner and JJ Taliaferro, Brian Taliaferro, Blake and Jennifer Taliaferro, Brody Taliaferro, Amber and Blake Brewer, Meagan and Kyle Coy, Kyle and Rachel Ezell, Dylan Ezell, Trevor Ezell, and Tanner McLaird; and 10 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Hayden, Haylee and Holden Taliaferro, Lilly and Colt Taliaferro, Camden Taliaferro, Parker Ezell, Bentli and Journi Coy.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Steven Taliaferro, his brothers, JR and Robert Taliaferro, and two great-grandchildren Lexi Malone and Bane Brewer.

Melva Sue Blake
Melva Sue Blake, of Comanche, peacefully passed away Sunday afternoon, June 16, 2013, at Fort Worth, Texas. She was 71 years old.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dow Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from a.m. to service time Thursday. -

Troy Glenn Wilson passed away June 16, 2013, in the VA hospital, at the age of 62.
Troy was born May 10, 1951, in Duncan, to Troy E. and Jeanette Rose Fowler Wilson. Troy has lived in Edmond, for the last nine years. He was a Navy Veteran and a hydraulic mechanic working on commercial equipment. Troy loved his family and fishing. -
Homer Gene Brown
Homer Gene Brown was born July 21, 1934, in Jefferson County to Weldon and Claudia Phelps Brown. He passed away on June 15, 2013, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 78.
He was a 1952 graduate of Waurika High School. He and Charlene Snider married May 31, 1952, in Waurika. -
