Henry Alvin Bernard, 69, lifelong resident of Duncan passed away on Oct. 12 at his home outside of Duncan.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at Ray of Hope Church with his sons officiating, along with Sam Darst and the Rev. Charles Bernard. Burial will follow at Hope Community Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Bernard officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry was born July 18, 1943 in Duncan to Henry P. and Ada (Hawes) Bernard. He was a graduate of Duncan High School, was employed by Duncan Builders Supply for over 25 years as a Contractor Salesman and was a Bishop and Ordained Minister with the Church of God. He was a member of the Pecan Street Church of God. Henry married Bernice McCoy on March 22, 1962 at Wichita Falls, Texas.
Henry is survived by his wife Bernice of the home. Five children Tim Bernard and wife Brenda of Borger, Texas, David Bernard of Duncan, Matt Bernard and wife Lisa of Marlow, Mark Bernard and wife Susie of Fayetteville, Ark. and Beonsia Bernard of Duncan. Four brothers Charles Bernard and wife Deloris of Duncan, Billy Bernard and wife Roma of Empire City, Lewis Bernard and wife Peggy of Fairfax and Ronny Bernard and wife LaKeta of Duncan. Three sisters Mancy Massey and husband Harold of Burleson, Texas, Veta Howard and husband Ronald of Duncan, Cecile Howard and husband Donny of Marlow. Fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Francis (Bernard) Jackson and nephews Nathan Jackson and Scott Massey.
Pallbearers will be Jake Bernard, Ben Bernard, Josh Bernard, Craig Bernard, Moses Ruiz, Bryan Scott and Charles Sprouse.
