DUNCAN — Robert Owen Callaway, 93, of Duncan passed away Friday, Feb. 1 at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veteran Center.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Duncan Cemetery with full military honors. Burial was under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Robert was born March 23, 1919, in Loco to John Thomas and Evalina (Reid) Callaway. He graduated from Loco High School, was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. He worked as a self-employed painting contractor in the Duncan area for many years.

Robert married Pearlie Lena Fennell on Nov. 14, 1953, in Lawton and she preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1995.

Robert is survived by a sister-in-law Ruth Callaway of Duncan, a nephew Dale Callaway of Duncan and a niece Lawanda Kester and husband Jack of Oklahoma City. Also survived by nephews David Callaway, Sam Garvin; nieces Leta Russell, Yvonne Bragg, Mary Bounds, Gayle Akers and cousin Harold Garvin.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister Irene Garvin and four brothers Claude, Fred, Clarence and Alton Callaway.
