DUNCAN —
Gene “Gino” Charles Broaddus was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Webb City, to James and Stella House Broaddus. He went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2013, at the age of 84, and had 84 wonderful years of life.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at New Hope Baptist Church West with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Gino graduated from Brownstown High School in Illinois in 1946. He entered the United States Air Force in 1946, and served three years as an air craft mechanic.
In 1947, he married Olene Boles and they were married for 55 wonderful years before she preceded him in death October 2002.
He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1954, and began his career at Halliburton Services that year, as a chemist, working for 35 years. He never dreaded going to work and loved everyone he worked with. He traveled all over the world teaching at many schools. He said, “I never regretted one day of my life with Halliburton.”
On Feb. 11, 2005, he married Donna McCormack, in Forsythe, Mo. They enjoyed eight wonderful years together. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and longtime member of the Duncan Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home, three children: Margie Miller of Norman, Mark Broaddus and wife Susan of Arcadia, and Traci Kistler and husband Rick of Norman; two step-children: LaDonna Earnhart and husband Steve of Duncan, and Lance Smith and wife Kim of Sterling; grandchildren: Blake, Conner and Carson Broaddus, Derrik Miller and wife Brandi, Dirk, Jake and Darci Kistler; step-grandchildren: Madison and Dylan Earnhart, and Shelbi and Chance Smith; and one great-grandchild, Zayden Miller.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Corey Miller; grandson, Chad Miller; his identical twin brother, Jim Broaddus and his wife Lola; a niece, Lola Kay Broaddus; and nephew, David Broaddus.
Pallbearers will be Dave Penderary, Marvin Misak, Ed Stahl, Raymond Stahl, Conrad Reed and Reg Lasater. Honorary bearer is Ronnie Fears.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chisholm Trail Hospice c/o Duncan Regional Hospital or Duncan Gun Club.
