Floyd Eldon Jackson

Oct. 25, 1931 — Dec. 6, 2012

MERIDIAN, Okla. —  Floyd Eldon Jackson, 81, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his residence in Meridian. A funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, at True Gospel Tabernacle in Duncan.  

Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The family will be receiving guests from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Floyd was born Oct. 25, 1931, near Walters, to Bernice Elmer and Minnie Elizabeth (Bowen) Jackson.

He was a lifelong resident of this area. He and Janice Anderson were united in marriage on April 17, 1996 at Wichita Falls, Texas.

He loved fishing, working on motors, and driving trucks. He loved spending time with his family, including his two dogs- constant companions, Candy, and Sissy (who died one year ago).

Floyd worked for many years for Bell Trucking, and also Miller Construction.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Janice of the home in Meridian; two daughters, Brenda Shutter and husband, Keith, Blue Ridge, Texas, and Sandy Sternadel and fiancée, Corey Swanson, Duncan; one step-daughter, Debra; two step-sons, Johnny Black, Meridian and Jimmy Black and fiancée, Miranda Montgomery, Comanche; three brothers, Glen and Juanita Jackson, Pumpkin Center, Okla.; Vern and Laveal  Jackson, Duncan; and Buddy and Linda Jackson, Tulsa; four sisters, Katie Morrison, Oregon, Jean Fielding, Burkburnett, Texas, Delores and Doug Williams, Fritch, Texas, and Arlene Hardaway, Bray; grandchildren, Kimberly Honea of Texas, Timothy Qualls of Texas, Ashley Sternadel, Amanda Sternadel, Allen Biffle, Derric and Dera Black, Jessica Black and Jacey Black, all of Duncan, Jason and Alysha Kitchel, Jeremy Black of Enid, Kimberlin Kitchel of Oklahoma City; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, Jerry Wayne and Gary Wayne Jackson, Walters; Helen Abshire, of Texas, Ruby Juhree Jackson, Thelma Kathrine Jackson, both of Comanche; mother, Minnie Elizabeth Bowen and father, Bernice Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Keith Shutter, Jimmy Black, Jesse Black, Timmy Qualls, Derric Black, Jeremy Black, Jason Kitchel and Allen Biffle.
