DUNCAN — Alan Mason Youngs, 77 of Duncan passed away on Friday, Jan. 31 at Norman Specialty Hospital in Norman.

Graveside services, with military honors, were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin with Pastor William Moore officiating. Burial is under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Family and friends met at 11:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to travel in procession to Ft. Sill National Cemetery.

Alan was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Summerland, Miss. to Fred M. and Pearl (Moon) Youngs. He attended Soso High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served a tour in Korea, three tours in Vietnam and was stationed twice in Germany, serving his country a total of 22 years in the military.

Alan married Mary J. Renfro on July 5, 1959, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2011. Alan enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Chisholm Trail Bass Club.

Alan is survived by two sons Stephen Youngs and Michael Youngs, both of Duncan. A sister Lois Youngs of Duncan, a granddaughter Lillie Youngs and a host of close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister Ruth E. Price.

Pallbearers will be Terry Renfro, Brandon Renfro, Gary Wilson, Bennie Lassley, Thomas Lassley and Steve Sammons.

    A celebration of her life will occur at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the First Baptist Church chapel in Marlow. Chaplain Tracy Wilson and Pastor Joe Ligon will preside. Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

    Curtis Franklin Sherman was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Rock Creek, Oklahoma, to Carl Franklin and Ruby Mae Sutton Sherman. He defeated a long battle with cancer when he entered the gates of Heaven on May 19, 2013. 
    Curtis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy earning the rank of Electrician II Class. He served during the Korean War from 1951-55 on the US Battleship St. Paul.
