Carroll Bennett Sr.

DUNCAN — Jan. 3, 1931 — Oct. 16, 2012

Funeral service for Carroll Bennett Sr., 81, Fletcher, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at the Church of God in Lawton with Reverend J.O. Howard, officiating.  Burial will follow at the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 in Oklahoma City. He was 81 years, 9 months, and 13 days old.

Carroll Joe Bennett Sr. was born Jan. 3, 1931 in Duncan, to Cecil and Jewel (Hood) Bennett. He attended Broxton Public Schools. After school, Carroll went to work on the family farm. Carroll married Mary Teague on Sept. 23, 1958.

The two were married 47 years when Mary passed away in 2006. He worked as a paint and body technician for Howard Smith Ford in Lawton for over 25 years before going to work at Steve Lacefield Chevrolet in Chickasha until he retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Church of God in Lawton for over 30 years.

Carroll loved to garden and spent many hours doing so after he retired.

He enjoyed raccoon hunting and was an avid Texas Rangers fan. He was a wonderful son, husband, dad, and granddad and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by one son, Carroll Joe Bennett Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Cement; three daughters: Lois Ivanette Hicks of Fletcher, Alecia Patrice Middleton and her husband Eddy of Fletcher, and Helen Catrina McCasland and her husband Tommy of Norman; one sister, Helen Howard and her husband J.O. of Lawton; eight grandchildren: Eddy Middleton Jr. and his wife Charity, Dustin Hicks, Tommy Cottrell, Sandi Middleton, Joshua Hicks, Jena Ross and her husband Jeremy, Brent Lee and his wife Kacey, and Haley Kaudlekaule; and five great-grandchildren: Dustin J. Hicks, Kaylie Renee Hicks, Braxton Blakley, Jaylin Ross, and Mallory Dawn Middleton.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Jewel Bennett; his wife Mary Bennett; one son, Clifton Bennett; and one sister, Dois June Bennett.
