Jimmy Lee Love

MARLOW — Sept. 21, 1941 — June 21, 2012

Dr. Jim Love, 70, former resident of Duncan, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, in Summerfield, Fla.

Jim was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Duncan to Jay and Jeanetta Funkhouser Love.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Summerfield; a daughter and son-in-law: Leigh Love and Helfried Quint of Berlin, Germany; a son, Robert, and wife, Tammy Love of Crestview, Fla.; daughter, Cathy Rowe of Kennesaw, Ga.; mother, Jeanetta Love of Comanche; brothers: Rodney Love of Comanche, Terry and wife Cassie Love of Ranger, Texas, Joe and Jeanna Love of Arlington, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated in 1959, from Duncan High School. He then attended Oklahoma State University, where he received his undergrad, Master’s and PhD in economics.

He worked for Texaco in Sierra Leone, Africa, taught at Oklahoma State University, Utica in New York, and Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga., where he was professor of economics. He wroke many articles on economics and contributed to the Wall Street Journal.

He retired in 2001, from Summerfield, where he enjoyed golf, wood working, traveling, ice hockey and World War II history.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Love in 1997.

The family will attend a private memorial service in Florida.
