Lottie Louise Stroud

June 8, 1924 — Dec. 12, 2012

DUNCAN — Lottie Louise Stroud, 88, of Duncan, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2012, in Duncan.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Quick officiating. Interment will follow in Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Louise was born June 8, 1924, in Tussy, the daughter of William Brooker Charter and Charlotte Coleman Harmon Charter. She married A.H. “Buddy” Stroud on Oct. 24, 1942. To this union two daughters were born: Janice Darity and husband Harold of Velma, and Sherry Nodine and husband Rex of Amarillo, Texas.

She is also survived by two granddaughters: Jana Wright and husband Bill of Velma, and Amy Smith and husband Aaron of Pueblo West, Colo.; a grandson, Quincy Nodine and wife Carmella of Amarillo; seven great-grandchildren: Brandi Wessel of Mustang, Seth Wright of Velma, Tyler, Kylie and Kamryn Smith of Pueblo West, Zander and Zalen Nodine of Amarillo; two great-great-grandchildren: Cole Wright of Velma, Alexander Wessel of Mustang; a brother, Joe Charter of Duncan; two sisters: Geneva McClellan of Fairview, and Nancy Fries of Elephant Butte, N.M.; a special nephew, Bruce Kelley and wife Connie of Wister; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and “Nana.” She was the most unselfish person who was always helping someone who needed something. She worked as a caregiver for 20 years.

She loved her family and friends and they loved her. She loved her flowers in spring and summer and mowing the yard. Her neighbors all knew something was wrong if she wasn’t working in her yard. She also loved to bake, and was known for her pear bread and her embroidery of cup towels.

Pallbearers will be Harold Darity, Seth Wright, Rex Nodine, Quincy Nodine, Bruce Kelley and Bill Wright.

    Billie Jean (Pollard) Long, 80, of Marlow passed away May 19, 2013, at her home in Marlow.
    A celebration of her life will occur at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the First Baptist Church chapel in Marlow. Chaplain Tracy Wilson and Pastor Joe Ligon will preside. Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

    Curtis Franklin Sherman was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Rock Creek, Oklahoma, to Carl Franklin and Ruby Mae Sutton Sherman. He defeated a long battle with cancer when he entered the gates of Heaven on May 19, 2013. 
    Curtis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy earning the rank of Electrician II Class. He served during the Korean War from 1951-55 on the US Battleship St. Paul.
