Peggy Jo Collins-Miears, 79, of Comanche, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at her home in Comanche.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17 in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Southerland and the Rev. Dow Pannell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Peggy was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Cotton County, to Andrew A. and Bernice (Renegar) Smith. She graduated valedictorian of the 1950 class of Empire High School. She worked at Sears, Henry Gibson Company, Halliburton Services and retired from Comanche Public Schools as the librarian and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
Peggy married Leon F. Collins and he preceded her in death. She later married L.J. Miears in September of 2002.
Peggy is survived by her husband, L.J., of the home; three children, Freddie Collins and wife Mary, Andy Collins and wife Deleeta and Jodi Shirley; three stepchildren, Danny Miears and wife Letha, Larry Miears and wife Marilyn and Jadene Miears; a brother, Loyd Smith; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Ratliff.
Pallbearers will be Danny Miears, Lynn Cobb, Justin Glover, Rodney Strutton, Stephen Price and Tim Stigler.
