COMANCHE — Julie Ann Smith Montgomery, 40, of Comanche, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 18, 2012, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Clyde Burk Rodeo Arena, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. The family will be receiving friends 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Julie was born Sept. 1, 1972, at Winfield, Ill., to Bruce and Catherine Ann (Horn) Smith. She came to Comanche in 2000, moving from Chicago, Ill. Julie enjoyed golfing, helping with school activities and riding horses. More than anything else she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Jeff, of the home; a daughter, Harley Angeles, of the home; her parents, Bruce and Catherine Smith, Hooversville, Pa.; one sister, Michelle Castoe and husband Larry, of Marlow; grandmothers: Erlene Horn, Hooversville; and Betty Enk, Bartlett, Ill.; an aunt, Sharon Smith, Bartlett; two uncles: Rob Smith and wife Sandy, Des Moines, Iowa, and Scott Smith and wife Judy, Metropolis, Ill.; a niece and nephew, Grace Castoe and Jordan Milhorn, both of Marlow; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s name to Spirithorse Chisholm Trail Equine Therapy Center, Route 1 Box 298 Comanche, OK 73529

    A celebration of her life will occur at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the First Baptist Church chapel in Marlow. Chaplain Tracy Wilson and Pastor Joe Ligon will preside. Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

    Curtis Franklin Sherman was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Rock Creek, Oklahoma, to Carl Franklin and Ruby Mae Sutton Sherman. He defeated a long battle with cancer when he entered the gates of Heaven on May 19, 2013. 
    Curtis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy earning the rank of Electrician II Class. He served during the Korean War from 1951-55 on the US Battleship St. Paul.
